With record house price rises
Quite recently Taunton has been making national headlines due to the soaring house prices in and around the town. This has been happening across the nation but last year house prices in Taunton are reported to have risen faster than anywhere else in England.

To quote from the Daily Mail, ‘According to the figures, Taunton, Somerset's county town which is famous for its cider and is home to a racecourse and cricket ground, saw average house prices soar by more than a fifth (21 per cent) this year. Average property prices in the town, which is surrounded attractive countryside including the Quantock Hills, rose by £56,546 to £315,759.’
This dramatic situation cannot continue indefinitely as experts predict that house price growth will slow down as the year progresses. The national chain of estate agents Savills forecasts overall price rises of 3.5% this year and 3% in 2023. The property portal Zoopla has similar projections, forecasting a 3% rise this year.
